Grumpy Old Weaver
Nestled beside Kansas' largest lake, surrounded by 10,000 acres of natural forest and beauty, my work beckons to a bygone time and place. Handwoven rugs and shawls, hand dyed yarns and felted purses are just a few of the "one of a kind" pieces I create. To live with history is a rare and wonderful thing. I love the "old ways" and am fascinated with 'how' and 'why' things were done. I feel at home with my spinning wheel. It is very soothing. The whirr of the wheel reminds me of the purring of my cat. Working with my own fiber is such a luxury that I wish everyone could experience and enjoy. A small spinning flock of shetland sheep, plenty of french angora rabbits and one pygora goat named "Larry", keeps me in enough fiber for most of my projects. Betty I have acquired several antique looms that I weave on for my rugs, shawls and woven purses. The looms themselves have such character and each is unique in itself. The rythym of the loom as the shuttle is thrown back and forth, certainly is a reminder of days gone by. Inside you will journey back to a time when quality meant something and you do not have to 'sell the farm' to be able to afford that quality.
